Spare Parts Exhibition

Last month I was thrilled to be involved in the exhibition Spare Parts at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Curated by the amazing and inspiring Priscilla Sutton, each artist was given a pre-loved prosthetic limb to use as their canvas. Above is my finished artwork on a beautiful old peg leg. I created it by hand cutting everything out of paper and applying it to the prosthetic. Good idea at the time but super time consuming! It was such a great exhibition as not only did it showcase such a diverse range of artwork by lots of talented artists (Mel Stringer, Beastman) but it was also a great way to create a positive and open conversation about prosthetics. Brisbane band The Good Ship bought my piece to use as a stage prop! To see more info on the exhibition check out the blog.

I didn’t immediately recognise this as your work, Andrea, cause the look is so different. It is amazingly beautiful – I can’t believe it is all hand cut. Awesome.
